On WBT Tonight With John Hancock!
Some things are never completely gone. Yesterday, a man named Marion Gales was arrested for murdering a woman in Charlotte,
NC. Many of you may remember that Gales was a prime suspect in the infamous murder case from 1990 in which Kim Thomas, the
wife of Dr. Ed Friedland, was murdered in their home, resulting in the arrest of Ed. I wrote at length about this in 1997
for Charlotte's alternative newspaper, Creative Loafing, asserting that Ed was innocent, and that Gales was probably responsible
for the murder. In my opinion, Charlotte police and the District Attorney's office horribly mis-managed the case. And now,
it's possible that another woman is dead as the result.
Tonight (Wednesday, July 23rd) I'll be calling in to John Hancock's show on WBT 1110-AM, at John's request, to talk about
this.
Here are very old website links to my Creative Loafing stories, and a link to a local Charlotte blog discussing the latest
developments:

My Last Show - And A Goodbye To Tim Russert
The Last Show!
Chris Plante is still off on his Alaskan cruise, so I'll do the whole three hours solo today from 1pm - 4pm . . . and then
that's it for us both on Sundays. While Chris will, of course, continue his weekday day (back tomorrow), there will be different
programming beginning next Sunday in these hours.
As for today -- well, the list of what I'd like to say is too long to get in. We'll stary with paying tribute to Tim Russert,
who left us so suddenly, and so finally, last Friday. And then you and I will have one last chance to discuss such issues
as this week's Supreme Court decision on detainees' rights, and the course of the war in Iraq, and the economy and gas prices,
and health care, and the pending Supreme Court decision on gun rights, and what next on gay marriage, etc., and religion in
America . . . and then we'll be finished.
Please tune in for my last show.

Was John McCain right in refusing to support a bill that would have increased benefits for our service men and women? We'll
discuss, on this Memorial Day weekend. And I've got a question for you in the 3pm hour that I haven't heard discussed on
talk radio, whether liberal or conservative. Join me!

On today's show, the discussion will range from President Bush's "appeasement" comments to the California Supreme
Court's approval of gay marriage. It will be a lively Sunday.
